Domain Registration

A domain is the name or address of your website (ex: www.cowgirlcreationswebdesign.com) There cannot be more than one site registered to a domain name.  A domain name can be registered as .com, .org, .net, etc.  A web address should be kept as short as possible and should be easy to remember.  If the name you had in mind is taken you may consider changing your web address slightly.  At Cowgirl Creations domain registration is typically $20.00 per year, however I do not charge you for the act of registering your domain.  I recommend reserving your own “.com” verses using a free service (such as that offered at (www.geocities.com). Reasoning for this is that having your own domain name presents a professional image and your site won’t be plagued with unsightly advertisements that come along with free hosting services. 

Domain Hosting

Speaking of hosting, a web site host is a company that provides space for the files that make up your site on a web server.  The cost for hosting an average size web site is approximately $140.00 per year through Cowgirl Creations.   This includes free e-mail addresses.  The cost and features on your hosting package can vary depending on your needs.  You even have the option of a secure online shopping cart on your web site!
